Horry also kept a journal from until shortly before his death, parts of which were published in the s and s in the South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine. He sat in the state Senate for the same parish from to Inwhen the legislature established new judicial districts, the state honored his war-time service by creating Horry District.
